Kelsey Dugan, MSW

My path to becoming a therapist began with the influence of social workers who offered guidance, support, and understanding during pivotal moments in my life. Their compassion inspired me to pursue social work — a field that looks at the whole person within their environment, not just their individual circumstances. That perspective continues to shape how I approach therapy today.

I specialize in grief and loss counseling, helping clients navigate the complex emotions that accompany change, transition, and healing. My own experiences with loss, as well as time spent working in hospice care, deepened my understanding of how grief touches every part of life — not only through death, but through relationships, identity, and personal growth.

My counseling philosophy centers on creating space for people to feel seen, heard, and understood. I believe therapy should be a safe environment where clients can express themselves freely and explore their emotions without fear of judgment. I strive to bring empathy, calm, and presence to each session, helping clients find meaning and resilience in their experiences.

What makes my practice unique is my ability to recognize grief in all its forms — not just as loss, but as transformation. I help clients identify how grief shows up in everyday life and guide them toward healing through reflection and self‑compassion.

People often describe me as having a calming presence that makes it easy to open up and be honest. I value authenticity and connection, and I bring those qualities into every therapeutic relationship.

Outside of work, I find joy in reading, pottery, and spending time with my dog. Creativity and learning are important parts of my life, and they help me stay grounded and inspired both personally and professionally.

I earned my Master’s in Social Work from New York University (NYU) and continue to build on my experience supporting individuals through grief, loss, and life transitions with empathy and understanding.
